FAQs

01.

What is vegetable tanned leather?

I use the finest full grain leather. Unlike most shop-bought products, vegetable tanning uses atureal tannins found in bark, fruit and leaves. This gentle method allows the leather to continue to absorb water and oils throughout its lifetime, developing a rich patina with use. It is slow, tradition, sustainable and leaves the leather with the most delicious look, smell and feel.

How are RBL products made?

All RBL pieces are solely made by hand. The patterns are hand drawn and prototyped; the leather is cut by hand and every stitch is made individually.

To ensure the items are strong and durable, I use traditional saddle stitching. Waxed linen thread with a needle at either end is passed through the leather, creating a line of tiny knots.

03.

How do I care for my leather item?

Leather is happy in all elements, although it is a good idea to store it somewhere dark and dry. Every so often, clean with a little saddle soap or feed with a leather conditioner, helping to keep the leather supple and prevent it from drying out.

04.

How long will it take to arrive?

Unless you have selected a Ready to Ship item, your piece will be made to order - a lead time will be provided when you have placed your order.

If you are outside the UK, let me know on first contact and I will price shipping accordingly using Royal Mail International Tracked and Signed services.

Returns and Exchanges

I am confident that you will love your purchase from Red Bike Leatherworks, but offer a full money back guarantee if you are not satisfied. The only exception to this is initialled goods, unless faulty.

If you have any problems at all, let me know as soon as possible. An exchange or refund will occur if the item is returned in its original condition within 14 days of receipt.
